Frequently Asked Questions

  • Check-in is between 4pm and 9pm.  Due to COVID-19/coronavirus precautions, we cannot accommodate early check-in requests due to enhanced cleaning measures.
  • Check-out is by 10.30am.  Once again, we cannot accommodate late check-out requests due to COVID-19/coronavirus enhanced cleaning measures. Please ensure that you leave the room key prior to departure.
  • Free on-site car parking.
  • We do not have designated disabled parking spaces, but with prior notice we will reserve a parking space adjacent to the entrance, indicated by a parking cone.
  • We do not have multiple room types, as each room is individual. Therefore the room that you have booked is the room that you will have.  However, should it be necessary due to unforeseen circumstances, we reserve the right to allocate a different room of equal standard where possible.
  • Breakfast includes a cooked English breakfast, served to your table, along with continental choices (cereals/yoghurt/fruit).  This may be subject to change due to COVID-19/coronavirus regulations.
  • We cater for vegetarian diets, but do not offer other special dietary foods, ie. gluten free/soya milk/halal etc. However, you are welcome to bring your own produce which can be stored in the mini fridge in your room.
  • Please advise of any allergies at the time of booking, ie. nuts/feathers etc.
  • Our pillows and duvets are hypo-allergenic.  Winter duvet tog rating of 13.5, and summer duvet tog rating of 4.5.
  • Service dogs only accepted.
  • Children – No under 14’s please.
  • Wildercombe House is a non-smoking establishment throughout, in line with UK government legislation.

Coronavirus/Covid-19 Statement:
Until further notice, we are only accepting reservations from UK residents.
If you live outside of the UK, reservations will not be accepted.                                                                                                                                                                                    

Following the latest UK government announcement of 22nd February 2021, we are currently closed and will re-open on Monday 17th May 2021 subject to government approval.  Reservations can be made for bookings commencing from 17th May 2021 onwards, but please be aware that these may need to change should the lockdown be extended.

Comfort and cleanliness have always been a priority at Wildercombe House.  Enhanced cleaning measures and social distancing procedures are in place.  High traffic areas will be regularly sanitised, and hand sanitiser is available for guests and staff to use on entering/leaving the building, and the dining room.  Social distancing in public areas in Wildercombe House is relatively simple.  A one-way system is currently in place for access to your room, where, subject to physical ability, we ask that you use the lift for luggage and to go to your room, and to exit by walking down the stairs.  We respectfully ask our guests to abide by the social distancing measures and be considerate of other guests throughout their stay.

Unless exempt, a face covering is required to be worn on entering the building and in all public areas, with the exception of your room and when seated and eating at your breakfast table.  We are displaying the NHS QR code.  Therefore, if you haven’t already done so, please download the ‘NHS COVID-19’ app to your smart phone, and scan the NHS QR code on arrival to record that you have been at Wildercombe House.  Please note, that we are now required to record contact details for each guest aged 16 and over.

On arrival, your room key will be made available for you to check in to your room in the normal way.  However, no member of staff will be able to show you to your room or assist/handle guest’s luggage.

We strongly advise that you bring your own hand sanitiser for use during your stay.

Daily in-room housekeeping services have been suspended.  Fresh towels, toilet rolls, etc., will be available on request throughout your stay, and tea/coffee/sugar supplies etc., are available on the 1st and 2nd floors.  Upon check-out, your room will be thoroughly steam cleaned and sterilised, ready for the next guests.

You will still be able to enjoy a cooked English breakfast, and continental options.  If you would like a cooked breakfast, we are asking guests to pre-order the evening before, selecting their choices using our breakfast menu form, and this will be served to you at your table.  Tables will be spaced to allow for social distancing, but breakfast times may have to be staggered to be able to adhere to social distancing protocol.

For the foreseeable future we would prefer not to process card payments on arrival.  Therefore:-

  1. For direct/website reservations – Payment will automatically be processed on the morning of arrival using the secure card information you provided at the time of booking. Alternatively, we can email you a payment link to make the payment yourself within 7 days of your arrival.  Please advise if you would prefer this method.
  2. For Booking.com reservations – Prepayment for the first night will be processed within 14 days of your arrival date using the card details provided at the time of booking, with any remaining balance processed on the morning of arrival using the details provided.

We are endeavouring to cover all options possible and wish to assure you and our staff that every effort will be made to keep all concerned as safe and healthy as we possibly can.  These are unprecedented times for us all and we will continue to assess the situation, updating this notice as and when necessary.  As always, we are here to discuss any concerns that you may have, so please do telephone or send an email.
